SCHOOL SELF-EVALUATION
The Department of Education and Skills have directed that schools engage with a process of self evaluation (Circular 39/12). The current focus should be on commencing the implementation of the agreed actions in the improvement plan in each of the classrooms in either literacy or numeracy. School Self Evaluation (SSE) provides opportunities to schools to examine their own practice within their own context and to report on their strengths and areas for improvement to their own school community.
School self-evaluation of teaching and learning is part of the on-going work of St. Mary’s Parish Primary School. Based on a School Self Evaluation process in 2013/14 we have decided to focus on numeracy over the period 2014/2017, with a particular focus on problem-solving skills in mathematics.
